What do you mean, where have I been?????
2 years isn’t that long.
I did warn you at the beginning that I’m not known for my endurance, but here I am having another go.
We didn’t end up sailing to Indonesia after all, due to business stuff etc., but we have done a lot of sailing.
We sailed to Merimbula in December 2016 for Christmas with family, and then across Bass Strait late December to Tasmania. We were so nervous about crossing Bass Strait, but it was so flat with no wind that we motored for 32 hours to Wine Glass Bay. Sharman was in Tasmania for about 3 months, and we spent a total of 9 weeks on board before heading towards home. There are so many beautiful places in Tassie and the history is amazing. I’d love to go back for another visit and travel around by car. It was too cold for me sailing, even though it was summer. On January 20 we woke up in Cygnet and it was 4 degrees. Freezing.
We had our daughter-in-laws brother and his friend join us for 10 days on the trip home from Tassie. We had a great time with them. They were such fun. I believe they’ve been practicing their Cribbage, so they go home with more money next time.
On the way home from Tassie we called back into Merimbula for Geoff’s sisters 70th.
In her words, it was a hoot!
We had a great time.
Anyway, we’ve had a lot of great trips on Sharman over the last 2 years and if I’d kept on with this blog I would have a great record of them all.
Tomorrow we set sail from Thursday Island to Indonesia at last. 700 nm. I’m excited and nervous. I’ll let you know in about a week how it all went.
